Isuzu to Venture with Toyota on Engine Production

Japan's Isuzu Motors Ltd. announced that they are considering setting up a joint venture to make diesel motors with Toyota Motor Corp. within their tie-up that was declared by both companies. The truck manufacturer and the world's number one car manufacturer happen to be discussing details of an alliance in the production and development of diesel engines because they shaped the tie-up.

The business leader at Toyota is trying to enhance its own fuel-efficient and low-emission technology by linking up with Isuzu, which is a significant developer of diesel motors. With the soaring costs of gasoline, diesel engines are attracting attention since they're nearly 20 percent to 30 percent more fuel-efficient than petrol engines. 

Besides producing diesel engines for its vehicles, Isuzu also provides such motors to U.S. automobile titan General Motors Corp. (GM). Toyota took a 5.9 percent stake in Isuzu.
